Concrete Base –

As with any bollard option, it is important to have a concrete base supporting the installation. The concrete base has to be securely anchored into the ground, at least up to the substrate level.

Adding A Base For The Bollard Bolts –

You will then need to add a concrete base in a tube shape or form. This will be placed above the ground and form the direct base on which the bolts of the bollard will be secured. For this, you need a forming tube that is cut according to a couple of inch wider proportion as compared to the bollard itself. This way when the bolts are secured onto the base it can hold the flange of the bollard as well as the bolts comfortably within the base.

Securing The Bolt Base To The Concrete Base –

To do this, you need to dig into the concrete base, just below the top layer or more accurately, the frost line. Now align the bollard base on top of the concrete base and add concrete mix to secure it in place. You will need to wait until the concrete is cured to set the bases securely.

Placing The Bollard –

Once the bases have been secured, you can place the cast iron bollard on top of the base and mark the exact space of the bollards bolts. Remove the bollard and first drill the holes in the marked places. This needs to be done before you replace the bollard on to the base.

Bolting The Bollard –

Once the holes have been drilled at the appropriate area, replace your bollard on top of the base and align the bolt holes with the drilled holes in the base. Now place the bolts that have been provided with the bollards and secure them tightly within the holes, thus securing the bollards in place.
